Understanding the process
The Department of Cultural Affairs aims to boost creativity and access to culture within the Principality. To achieve this, it implements the Prince's Government's cultural policy in collaboration with various institutions, artists, and local partners.
The six artists' studios managed by the Department are a particularly good example of this. This unique venue welcomes artists to the heart of the Principality's cultural scene, a concept that Prince Rainier III had in mind back in 1996 and which was reaffirmed by H.R.H The Princess of Hanover in 2009.
For this call for applications, the following studios are available:
- One studio without accommodation
- Two studios with accommodation (the beneficiary must arrange this by their own means)
The Department of Cultural Affairs would like to advise applicants that places are limited and reserves the right to refuse any application that is incomplete or has not been submitted within the deadline specified above.
Applications are particularly welcome from international artists whose residency project will enable them to develop their own artwork as well as projects that are in line with Monegasque cultural programmes, to maintain and assure cultural vitality.
If awarded a studio, applicants must take out civil liability insurance for the duration of the residency, proof of which must be provided.
All artists intending to apply must provide the following documents:
- The application form, which can be downloaded below:
- A biography or artistic CV
- A presentation of works already produced accompanied by a maximum of 5 visuals (dated, commentated, including videos and sound works)
- Press cuttings if appropriate (maximum 3)
The application must be submitted no later than 31 May 2024.
- By email to infodac@gouv.mc mentioning "Call for applications - artist's studio - artist's name". An acknowledgement of receipt will be sent to you electronically
- Or, by registered post with acknowledgement of receipt to the following address:
