Fontvieille: Escalators at the Léo Ferré forecourt and the Zoological Garden back in service
Following works carried out to replace ageing equipment, the escalators at the Léo Ferré forecourt and the Zoological Garden have been back in service and reopened to the public since 21 April 2026.
The new installations, which are more energy-efficient than the previous ones, incorporate several technical improvements. In particular, they allow for automatic restart in the event of accidental activation of an emergency stop, thereby reducing service interruptions.
Their design also facilitates maintenance operations, with less frequent technical interventions and shorter periods of unavailability.
Lastly, a dynamic LED lighting system accompanies the movement of the steps to clearly indicate the direction of travel to users.
