PRESS RELEASE

In one month’s time, the Committee for the Promotion and Protection of Women’s Rights will mark International Women’s Rights Day through the POWHER event, organised in partnership with a range of stakeholders.

Now in its third consecutive year, POWHER will take place on Friday 6 March 2026, from 11.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., at the Espace Léo Ferré. This year’s edition will focus on a woman’s life journey, explored through the lenses of sport, health and equality.

The Espace Léo Ferré will feature an original scenographic layout in which sport will play a central role, notably through a photographic exhibition showcasing Monegasque sportswomen.

“This event aims to highlight the differences that exist in the life cycles of women and men, as well as the inequalities that may result from them”, explains Céline Cottalorda, Country Chief Women’s Rights Officer.

Numerous Monegasque associations and organisations will be present throughout the day to offer activities and respond to questions from the public.

“The event is designed to be both engaging and informative, addressing a wide range of topics including stereotypes in sport, the onset of menstruation, the treatment of certain women’s health conditions, the legacy passed on to future generations, and many other issues”, continues Céline Cottalorda.

Treasure hunt, artistic installation and photographic exhibition

The day’s flagship activities will include:

  •  A unique collective artwork created by Mr One Teas, enabling visitors to take part in the journey and leave with a keepsake. “I wanted to create an installation that echoes a fundamental struggle: that of equality, carried forward every day by women, in sport as in all areas of society” explains the artist, who is also an ambassador for women’s rights.
  •  A treasure hunt, inviting participants to uncover a password that will allow them to cross the finish line, where Mr One Teas’ artwork will be located. To find this password, visitors will collect clues by exploring the different stages of a woman’s life, from childhood through to later life.
  •  A photographic exhibition by Sébastien Salamand, known as Le Turk, highlighting Monegasque sportswomen. Six sports will be represented: rugby, football, basketball, judo, athletics and gymnastics.

A public speaking competition to close the day

As youth engagement is a priority for the Committee, a public speaking competition will be held on 6 March, starting at 6.00 p.m., in the hemicycle of the National Council, which hosted the first round of the inaugural edition of this competition in 2025. The event will provide an opportunity to discover the perspectives of upper-secondary school pupils from the Principality on the theme “A Story of Equality: from Ego to Equals”. The competition will be broadcast live on Monaco Info. Registration is open until 15 February 2026.

Free admission to the Espace Léo Ferré.
Programme details and competition registration are available on the website of Committee for the Promotion and Protection of Women’s Rights  and via the Committee’s social media channels: Facebook et Instagram
