29th Monaco International Judo Tournament
The 29th Monaco International Judo Tournament will bring Europe’s best judokas to the Principality on Sunday 8 December 2024.
The executive committee of the Monegasque Judo Federation is continuing the initiative of President, Gérard Bertrand, to hold a team tournament that has borne his name since 2015: the ‘Gérard Bertrand Trophy’.
The 2024 tournament will also be an opportunity to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the Monegasque Judo Federation for its President, Sophie Vincent, the tournament director Florence Garcia and national technical director François Bick with assistance from technical advisor Marcel Pietri, who has also been working on the fiftieth anniversary commemorations for the Monegasque Judo Federation.
After the extraordinary Paris Olympic Games, during which judo rocked the sporting world, not least with a memorable team final that saw France achieve a home victory over Japan, the ‘Gaston Medecin’ hall, the usual home of the Roca Team, will also enjoy the thrill of judo, as it hosts more than 100 international judokas.
Each team will feature seven fighters (one in each weight category), and the first team to win four fights will be declared the winner. The 14 teams will compete in a knock-out format with automatic repechage matches. Each team will compete in at least two fights during the day.
The list of competitors will be published in early December, and is likely to include the nations that regularly compete in the Monaco event: France, Ukraine, Georgia, Italy, Portugal and Lithuania, a few last minute surprises and some elite French clubs.

- Competition begins at 9 am
- Semi finals from 2.30 pm
