NEWS RELEASE

The Prince's Government is pleased to announce that the Larvotto Handiplage site will be open throughout the 2025 summer season for its 20th year. This new season, which will run until 31 August 2025, represents another step forward in the Principality's commitment to improving accessibility and fostering a more inclusive environment.

The scheme, implemented by the Department of Social Welfare and Social Services, with support from the Monaco Soroptimist Club, enables people with disabilities, whether accompanied or independent, to enjoy swimming in optimal conditions of safety and comfort in a welcoming setting.

Following a successful trial in 2024, the opening hours of the Handiplage site are being extended to increase accessibility:

  • Weekdays: 10am to 6pm
  • Weekends and 15 August: 9am to 7pm

These opening hours are aligned with Larvotto lifeguard duty times to maintain a continuous and safe service.

To provide users with the best possible support during these extended opening hours, the Handiplage reception team includes six disabled access assistants. All staff members are trained first aiders (PSC1 - Prévention et Secours Civiques de niveau 1) to ensure the safety of all visitors.

This year, the site offers new facilities and improvements, including the installation of an accessible shower and a seat for those with reduced mobility. Two adapted SUNBED-style deckchairs are being provided, along with two new ‘waterwheels’ floating wheelchairs.

Life jackets for those with reduced mobility, gel cushions and a cooler box will also be available to enhance user comfort.
