Paris 2024: The Rugby 7s Olympic Qualification Tournament in Monaco
From 21 to 23 June, the Stade Louis II will host the 7-a-side Rugby Olympic Qualification Tournament for the Paris 2024 Games. A total of 24 men's and women's national teams from across the world will be competing for the coveted title.
Since rugby became an Olympic sport in 2016, this event has become a regular fixture in Monaco's calendar, and once again, the Principality is hosting what will be the last chance for non-qualified countries to win a place at the Olympic Games Paris 2024, with 12 men's and 12 women's teams rising to the challenge this year.
The Blitzbocks: serious contenders
The men's tournament will feature South Africa, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Mexico, Papua New Guinea, Spain, Tonga, and Uganda. The Blitzboks are one of the strongest teams in the HSBC SVNS, along with Canada, Great Britain, and Spain. There's plenty of suspense and excitement ahead in Monaco.
The women's tournament is wide open
Set to be very competitive, the women's tournament will bring together Argentina, China, the Czech Republic, Hong Kong, Kenya, Jamaica, Mexico, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Poland, Samoa, and Uganda. All these teams will be determined to play their very best to represent their country on the world's greatest sporting stage.
Monaco offers the final chance to take part in the Olympic Games
Only the winners of the men's and women's tournaments will secure their place at the Olympic Games Paris 2024. This is sure to keep each team on their toes as they battle it out on the Louis II Stadium pitch. At the end of the event, the Olympic groupings will be announced during a press briefing in the Salon Honneur with the two qualifying team captains, and representatives from World Rugby and Paris 2024 on hand.
Tickets are available now online
Tickets for all three days of the competition have been available online since 27 May. Reservations can be made via www.monaco-rugby.com. The event organisers, Monegasque Rugby Federation, expect to build on the exceptional success of the Rugby World Cup 2023 in France and hope to fill the stands at the Louis II Stadium from 21 to 23 June.
