NEWS RELEASE

Monaco City Hall wishes to inform drivers that cases of street parking meter fraud have been reported.

The scam has affected 40 meters out of 86 installed in Monaco.

A fake QR code sticker is placed on the meter and customers are asked to scan it and pay their parking fees. They are then directed to malicious web sites. This type of scan has already been reported outside the Principality.

Every parking meter has been inspected and the fraudulent stickers removed.

The only valid payment methods are the PayByPhone and Monapass apps, coins, a debit card or contactless payment. None of the 86 parking meters in the Principality have a QR code.

City Hall encourages all users who suspect that they have been victims of this fraud to contact the Police Department.

A formal complaint will be filed by Monaco City Hall.
