Monaco’s Stamp Issuing Office will release the following stamps for sale on 3 December 2012 :

1,35€ CENTRE SPERANZA – ALBERT II

The Centre Speranza-Albert II offers therapeutic day care for people living in Monaco who suffer from Alzheimer's Disease. The Centre was born from a tripartite implication between the princely Government, the Croix-Rouge Monégasque
(Monaco’s Red Cross) and Monaco’s municipality. The stamp features a collective work painted by patients of the Centre.

1,80€ THE NUDE IN ART: OLYMPIA, EDOUARD MANET 1863

Painted by Edouard Manet in 1863, Olympia was inspired by Titian’s Venus of Urbino but deviates from the academic canon in its style. At the time, Olympia shocked in many way: both the provocative attitude of the woman and the realism
of the subject engendered controversy. In painting reality as he saw it, Manet created what some consider the first modern painting. In that way, Manet was a pivotal figure in the transition from realism to impressionism.

These stamps will be on sale at the Stamp Issuing Office, at the Museum of Philately and Coinage, at the Principality’s post offices and philatelic counters, and from Monégasque stamp traders and some philatelic sellers in France. They will be available to our subscribers and customers, together with other treasures from the philately programme of the second half of 2012.
