Superyacht Chef Competition – Sail through the flavours!
Tantalise your taste buds at the fifth edition of the Superyacht Chef Competition, held on 4 April 2024.
Under the watchful eye of Joël Garault, Chairman of Goûts et Saveurs, a number of professionals will be on hand to judge each dish.
Chef Glenn Viel is taking over from Yannick Alléno as head of the international judging panel. A three Michelin star chef passionate about using local produce, Chef Glenn blends his Breton roots with Provençal culinary traditions and has gained much respect through his eco-friendly approach to culinary arts.
Last year's winner, Marco Tognon (M/Y Planet - 72 m), will join Chef Danny Davies to help judge the quality of this year's dishes. Host of "Behind the Line with Chef Danny Davies" and author of two vegan cookbooks, Danny Davies, has over 25 years of experience aboard private yachts.
Also joining the judging panel is "Objectif Top Chef" finalist Chef Victoria Vallenilla, alongside two Michelin star chef and former student of the Ferrandi school in Paris, Chef Julien Roucheteau, and former mentee of the famous chef Jacques Maximin, Chef Fred Ramos, who will be on hand to judge both the preparation and the final dishes.
Once again this year, the nine selected superyacht chefs will have to follow an anti-waste rule, which Chef Duncan Biggs will be closely monitoring, to ensure that they use each ingredient in the basket or face a penalty, which will be applied in line with an external scoring system.
Three rounds for the win
Paulo Ucha Longhi (M/Y Hercules – 50 m), Joelyanne Le Faucher (M/Y Artemis – 33 m), Mateusz Mitka (M/Y Lady Britt – 63 m), Margot Laurent (M/Y Leonardo III - 43 m), Enzo Di Gabro (M/Y L.A.U.L. – 39 m), Giacomo Seregni (M/Y Severin’s – 55 m), Jérémie Gruson (M/Y Victoria del mar – 50 m) and Ava Faulkner (M/Y Light Holic – 60m) will be participating in this 5th edition, which is sticking to the same criteria that have already made this event such a success. Adaptability will be the key word for the competitors, who will discover the secret ingredients in their mystery basket moments before taking to their kitchen stations, with just five minutes to decide what to create.
During this time, the public can choose to add a missing ingredient to the basket and will be invited to cast their vote for the best culinary presentation, which adds an interactive element to this prestigious competition. Rivalling in ingenuity and showcasing their expertise, the chefs involved in this event never fail to keep the audience on the edge of their seats, making this competition a recipe for success!
