PRESS RELEASE

For several weeks, the Department of Urban Amenities has been creating several roundabouts in Fontvieille. These works are part of the implementation of a new traffic management scheme in this area as a result of the opening, in the first quarter of 2013, of the Saint Antoine Mixed Development Zone and the Marquet link road, which will link the lower corniche road to the Fontvieille district in both directions.

The aim of this scheme, which was developed in association with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office, is to allow direct access to the car parks and limit through traffic in the residential area.

Phase 1 of this new traffic management scheme will involve the creation of three roundabouts, which are nearing completion:

- at the far end of the Avenue de Fontvieille, at the intersection with the Avenue Albert II (9)

- at the crossroads of the Avenue des Papalins and the Rue du Campanin (5)

- at the crossroads of the Avenue des Papalins and the Avenue des Guelfes (4)

In addition, two-way traffic is being introduced on the "Avenue des Castelans/Rue du Campanin" route (6) between the two roundabouts at the "Avenue de Fontvieille/Avenue Albert II" and the "Rue des Papalins, Rue du Campanin."

This two-way system will come into operation on Thursday 8th November at 6 am

The next phase will include the creation of a roundabout at the exit from the Marquet link road, at the junction by the Louis II Stadium.
