The social unemployment allowance is awarded to unemployed Monegasques over the age of 18 who are no longer eligible for unemployment benefit and who benefit from socio-educational support, with a possible top-up to professional earnings and for dependent children.
Understanding the process
The social unemployment allowance can be paid to anyone:
- Of Monegasque nationality
- Over 18 years of age
- No work activity
- Who has exhausted their entitlement to unemployment benefit and public assistance paid by the Department of Employment, or who is not entitled to this support
- Who is receiving social and educational support from the Department of Social Welfare and Social Services, and requires stable and regular residence in the Principality to ensure that this is
carried out effectively
A differential minimum income may be paid in addition to a professional income for a period of three consecutive months, which may be renewable.
The amount paid determined on the basis of means testing, which may be increased for dependant children.
Recipients of the Minimum Income can receive monthly service vouchers and may claim state medical assistance if they are not covered by a Monegasque or foreign social security fund.
Recipients may also be entitled to subsidiary compensatory family allowance.
