Understanding the process
You can apply for a grant for 30% of the total cost of the installation, by a professional, of a solar thermal system. This grant:
- Is intended for the purchase and installation of the equipment
- Is limited to a maximum of €30,000
The grant can be applied for by:
- Private owners
- Representatives of the joint owners if the building is under joint ownership
- All members of a collective ownership, which may consist of private or public owners, through the property manager or through the representative in the absence of a property manager

Agreement in principle of the grant is given on the basis of the application submitted.
Your application should be submitted to the Department of the Environment.
Grant payments are subject to approval of the application.
Your application should include:
- The completed grant application form
- Bank account details (RIB) of the applicant
- A detailed invoice drawn up by a professional
- A certificate from the inspection agency
- A copy of the letter relating to the final inspection approving the work

- Or collect it from the Department of the Environment
Your application should include copies of the following documents in duplicate:
- The completed grant application form
- Proof of ownership or of authorisation to act as representative
- A full description of the installation, including a technical report indicating the annual productivity in kWh per square meter of solar panel, the auxiliary source of energy used, an estimate of the energy savings made (in volume and in percentage of the total average annual energy consumption), and the angle of the panels
- A plan of the work and visual documents to enable the assessors to judge whether the installation is aesthetically acceptable
- A detailed quote drawn up by a professional
You need to take all the documents to the Department of the Environment
After processing the grant application, the Department of the Environment will inform applicants of its agreement in principle.
