Understanding the process
The single wage allowance is paid, subject to income conditions, to Civil servants, other Government and Commune officials, with more than two years’ service, whether still working or retired, subject to the following conditions:
- They submit an application
- They are married or living in a conjugal relationship or are partners in a cohabitation agreement (CVC)
- They are working or on secondment
- They are retired, primarily resident in Monaco and affiliated with the State Medical Benefits Office
- Their spouse or partner does not receive any income from paid employment of any kind, past or present, nor any welfare benefits (unemployment benefits, retirement pensions, disability benefits, etc.)
The allowance is paid from the date of the application, provided that the form is properly completed and signed, and submitted together with the required supporting documents, which must include a note of the relevant registration number.
To get these forms you can either:
- Download them here
- Collect them from the State Medical Benefits Office
You must supply to the State Medical Benefits Office the following documents:
- In the case of a marriage: a marriage certificate or a family civil status form
- A sworn statement testifying that the the spouse or partner does not exercise a revenue producing activity
- If the spouse or partner of the applicant held a job prior to their current situation:
- A certificate from their employer confirming that they are no longer employed
- A copy of the payslip indicating that all compensation due has been paid
- A certificate confirming that no employment benefit is being paid by the Employment Office
- A copy of the resignation letter if the person resigned
- The latest tax statement for the applicant and their spouse or partner
You can either:
- Hand in your duly completed and signed form, together with the required documents, to the State Medical Benefits Office (SPME) reception desk between 9.30 am and 5 pm from Monday to Friday, or in it post box. No appointment is needed
- Or send your duly completed and signed form, together with the required documents to the State Medical Benefits Office by post
If approved, you will receive the single wage allowance straight away. We may write to you to request additional information or to inform you that your application has been rejected.
