The CSAPM is an outpatient care centre specialised in addictology that offers prevention services to people suffering from addiction disorder, their families, and professionals who work with these people.
Who is the Centre for?
The Monaco Addiction Treatment, Support and Prevention Centre is available to anyone aged 15 or over, living, working or attending school in the Principality of Monaco.
Are you wondering about your consumption (alcohol, drugs, gambling, videos, etc.) or that of a loved one?
The CSAPAM offers care, assessment and guidance for people suffering from addiction as well as their family, loved ones, friends and healthcare professionals, who often feel overwhelmed and don’t know who to turn to.
Consultations are by appointment, free of charge and confidential.
Young people aged 15 or over can book an initial consultation at the Centre without their parents or legal guardians.
A doctor conducts an assessment and offers care or a referral to a more appropriate structure if necessary
What is an addiction?
Addictions can be a part of life, but they become a problem when they have harmful consequences on a person’s physical or mental health. Addictions are also harmful when they impact on family and social life, work and school. They can cause financial and/or legal problems.
The first signs of addiction appear when a person becomes trapped by an inability to abstain from a product or behaviour.
Are there different kinds of addiction?
Addiction can take multiple forms. It can involve legal products such as alcohol, tobacco, illegal drugs such as cannabis, heroin, etc., and prescription medication. It can also involve a behaviour, like screens, the internet or gambling…
Consultations for young consumers (CJC)
This consultation is for young people aged 15 to 25.
The young person and their family can come to be heard, receive information and support, freely discuss their experiences and concerns without taboos or judgement. Advice is provided on how to reduce or stop consumption.
Young people can come alone or accompanied by a parent or loved one.
Parents can also meet with someone without the young person concerned.
Are you a healthcare professional?
The CSAPAM is a resource centre for all health, social and educational professionals.
Because prevention is key to detecting the symptoms of addiction as early as possible to reduce risk, the CSAPAM raises awareness and trains professionals on Early Intervention and Brief Intervention (RPIB) through continuous training and special discussions.
Addiction among older people is also a reality and can have serious effects on their health and independence. The CSAPAM also raises awareness among professionals in the geriatric sector and offers care, regardless of age and in a manner compatible with existing somatic, cognitive and psychological health conditions.
The CSAPAM is a one-stop platform in the Principality of Monaco that coordinates the patient journey and establishes an appropriate healthcare project with local stakeholders and healthcare facilities.
