How to remove all traces of your internet use

Web browsers keep a record of sites visited and searches made in their memory. If you are concerned that someone may discover that you have visited this site, it is possible to remove the evidence.

Remove the history

To remove all evidence from sites you have visited, you can use the short cut Ctrl+Shift+Delete to go directly to the window that allows you to remove your browsing history or select one of the steps presented below, depending on your browser.

  • Open the "Tools" menu on the top right
  • Select "Security" then the "Delete navigation history" button
  • Select what you wish to delete
  • Click on "Delete"
  • Open the menu on the top right
  • Select "History"
  • Click on "Delete recent history"
  • Select the time period to be deleted
  • Click on "Delete now"
  • Click on "History" in the upper menu
  • Click on "Clear history" in the lower part of the menu
  • Open the menu on the top right
  • Select "History"
  • Select "Parameters – Delete navigation data"
  • Select the data to be deleted
  • Click on "Delete navigation data"

Cancel AutoComplete

To remove all traces of the words entered in search engines, use one of the following approaches, depending on your browser.

  • Open the "Tools" menu
  • Select "Internet Options," then the "Content" tab
  • In the section "Personal Information," click on "AutoComplete"
  • Click on "Delete forms."  You can also deactivate the "Forms" box in this same window to avoid this information being kept in the future
  • Click on "OK" to close the dialogue box

(It is also possible to remove the various entries in the search history by selecting them using the "Down Arrow" and clicking on the "Delete" key).

  • Open the menu on the top right
  • Select "Options" "> "Privacy"
  • In "History," choose "Use the personalised parameters for history"
  • Define your parameters
  • Close the window, and your parameters will be registered
  • Open the "Safari" menu and select "Preferences"
  • From the menus that appear, select "AutoFill"
  • Look for the line "Other forms "and click on the "Edit" button
  • Open the menu on the top right
  • Select "Parameters"
  • Click on "Show advanced parameters"
  • Choose your "Confidentiality" parameters and "Passwords and forms"
