A priority card for people with disabilities is issued to anyone who has been granted the status of a person with disabilities whose level of disability is at least 80%, or when his or her disability makes standing difficult.
Understanding the process
This card gives priority access to seating on public transport, in waiting areas and waiting rooms, as well as in establishments and at events that are open to the public. It also gives priority in queues.
To get them you can either:
- Download them here
- Or collect them from the Department of Social Welfare and Social Services
You must ask your general practitioner to complete the medical certificate.
The certificate must be dated of less than 3 months before date the application is submitted.
You must supply:
- A detailed medical certificate
- A photocopy of the ID card or the residence permit of the recipient
- 2 ID photos
- The application, including supporting documents and a completed application form must be submitted to the Department of Social Welfare and Social Services
- The medical certificate should be sent in confidence to the Department of Social Welfare and Social Services Medical Inspector
