When a driving licence is damaged, you can apply for a replacement.
Understanding the process
When a driving licence is damaged or becomes illegible, you must apply for a replacement. This procedure can now be completed entirely online.
There is a fee associated with this service - Please see the current fees
- For the offline procedure: the form available in step 2 "Submitting the application" under the "Offline procedure" tab
- For Monegasque nationals:
- A copy of a valid Monaco national identity card
- Or a copy of a national passport with proof of address (gas or electricity bill from the SMEG, rental agreement) dated of less than 3 months
- For residents: a copy of a valid residence permit
- The original of your driving licence
- A coloured ID photo, dated within the last 6 months, on a light background, frontal view, bareheaded, of size 35x45, not scanned
- The original of your driving licence
- In the case of procedures carried out by a third party, a mandate, signed by the principal and accompanied by supporting documents showing proof of these persons' identities. It should specify that the mandate allows the representative to submit the progress of the principal’s application(s), but not to sign documents instead of the principal
- The payment, to be made by cash, cheque or postal order (clearable in Monaco or France), made out to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office and Visa or Mastercard bank cards only, in accordance with the current fee schedule
The request for driving licence replacement must be submitted to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office using the appropriate form, duly completed and signed on the original, by the holder of the licence.

To submit your application, you must first make an appointment with an agent of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office.
You can request an appointment in one of the following three ways:
- Online, using the online service made available for this purpose
- By email to circulation@gouv.mc
- By phone on (+377) 98 98 80 14
The staff of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office will be waiting for you at the time of the appointment; you should bring with you the documents listed in step 1.

You can now submit your application online using a dedicated online service available via MonGuichet.
We strongly encourage applicants to use the online service, which offers a number of advantages:
- Simplified submission process, available at any time
- Secure way to send supporting documentation
- Instant confirmation of submission
- Real-time tracking of the application’s status
If you applied online, collection will be by appointment.
You may also receive the documents by post in accordance with current rates, subject to payment of the relevant fees and return of your old driving licence, where applicable.
Once you have passed your practical test, you will receive an email confirming that your driving licence has been issued.
You will then be invited to book an appointment to collect your licence from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office reception desk on presentation of your identity document.
If a collection date is not agreed during your appointment to submit your application, you can request an appointment in one of the following three ways:
