Suspension of a driving licence

Anyone who holds a driving licence issued by the Principality of Monaco may have his or her driving licence suspended in the event of a breach of the Highway Code in Monegasque territory.

The suspension of a driving licence will take effect on the date of notification by the Police Department.

You will then no longer be able to drive in the Principality or in any other territory during the period of suspension.

Driving ban in the Principality

Anyone who holds a driving licence issued by a foreign State may be banned from driving in the Principality in the event of a breach of the Highway Code in Monegasque territory.

The driving ban in the Principality will take effect on the date of notification by the Police Department.

You will no longer be able to drive in the Principality for the duration of the ban, but you retain your right to drive in other States, provided that you are in possession of your driving licence.

Ban on driving abroad

Anyone who holds a driving licence issued by the Principality may be banned from driving in a foreign State in the event of a breach of the Highway Code in the territory of that State.

You will no longer be able to drive in the State concerned during the period of the ban but you retain your right to drive in the Principality and in other States, provided that you are in possession of your driving licence.

If your Monegasque driving licence has been confiscated by a foreign authority, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Office will return it to you once they have received it by post.
