If you lose your job, subject to certain conditions, you can claim unemployment benefit.

Understanding the process

If you lose your job, subject to certain conditions, in particular the reason for terminating your contract of employment and the number of hours worked, you can claim unemployment benefit.

The social security provisions are those in force in your country of residence.

You should register at the Employment Office as a job seeker.

If you have lost your job in Monaco or France : Subject to certain conditions, you will be eligible for benefit from the Pôle Emploi
If you have lost your job in Italy : You will not be eligible for benefit from the Pôle Emploi, but the Employment Office will study your case and may offer a different type of benefit

You should contact the Pôle Emploi closest to where you live.

Subject to certain conditions, you will be eligible for benefit from the Pôle Emploi.

If you live in one of the four neighbouring towns (Cap d’Ail, Beausoleil, La Turbie or Roquebrune-Cap-Martin), you can register with the Employment Office as a job seeker. The Employment Office will help you to look for a job in Monaco.

If you have Italian nationality : You should register with the Employment Office, which will assess your request for unemployment benefit. You will be eligible for benefit from the Pôle Emploi, depending on the type of work you have been doing
If you have a different nationality : You should register at the Centro Per l’Impiego in your place of residence in Italy. You will be eligible for a lump-sum payment from the l’Istituto Nazionale della Previdenza Social
