How to obtain permission for an unaccompanied minor to leave the country to travel abroad

Understanding the process

Authorisation to leave the country is obligatory for any minor travelling abroad who is not accompanied by a holder of parental authority.  This authorisation must be obtained by means of a form providing the following details:

  • The surname (and commonly used surname, if applicable), first and middle names and date and place of birth of the minor authorised to leave the country
  • The surname (and commonly used surname, if applicable), first and middle names and date and place of birth of the holder of parental authority who is a signatory to the authorisation and the capacity in which this authority is authorised, domicile, and, if applicable, telephone contact details
  • The duration of the authorisation, which must not exceed one year
  • The signature of the holder of parental authority
