Understanding the process
Permission from the Director of Education Youth and Sport must be sought for any special absence.
Depending on your request, you must provide these supporting documents:
- A club certificate for absences to take part in sporting activities
- A medical certificate in the case of absences for medical reasons, or an official letter from parents for specific types of care (Medical Psychology Centre, Day Therapy Activities Centre, Princess Grace Hospital, etc.) requiring recurrent absences

- Or collect it from the secretariat at your child’s school
The form signed by both parents or the legal guardian, together with any supplementary documents, must be submitted to the school at least ten days before the beginning of the planned period of absence.
The head of the school will pass the request to the Director of Education Youth and Sport, and inform you of the response.

The request, together with any additional documents, if applicable, should be sent to the school to arrive at least ten days before the start of the planned period of absence.
You will be sent acknowledgement of registration by email.
